The Health Department of the Regional Association reports 467 new corona cases today (as of July 8, 4 p.m.). The number of newly reported cases per 100,000 inhabitants in the last seven days thus rises to 1050.1 according to internal calculations.[1] Currently, there are clusters of cases in about 40 facilities, including eleven daycares, ten schools, six senior care facilities, and seven residential homes for people with disabilities.
7-day total of new infections by cities and municipalitiesIn the past seven days, 3,439 people in the regional association have been infected with the coronavirus. Of these, 1,745 live in Saarbrücken, 457 in Völklingen, 242 in Püttlingen, 160 in Kleinblittersdorf, 158 in Sulzbach, 148 in Heusweiler, 146 in Quierschied, 138 in Großrosseln, 135 in Riegelsberg, and 110 in Friedrichsthal.
Corona case numbers since the beginning of the pandemic
In total, the regional association has 114,166 confirmed cases that have tested positive since the beginning of the pandemic. Of these, 62,070 are in the state capital and 52,096 in the nine surrounding towns and municipalities. The number of deaths related to the coronavirus stands at 759.
