In bright sunshine, the Habach farmhouse was ceremoniously reopened last Friday with the vernissage of the exhibition "My Play with Colors" by Inge Huwer.
The numerous guests, including Eppelborn’s mayor Andreas Feld as well as the local heads from Habach, Eppelborn, and Wiesbach, were welcomed by Marliese Weber, chairwoman of the Foundation Cultural Heritage Municipality Eppelborn.
Mayor Feld looked back on the renovation work of the past three years, which helped protect the listed building from decay. More than 115,000 euros were invested in the farmhouse through two consecutive funding programs, primarily to secure supporting walls and restore the sandstone surrounds. In addition, the roof drainage and the large beam above the barn door were renewed, and the damaged floors at the entrance areas were restored with historical original tiles. The mayor also took the opportunity to thank all the volunteers, especially honorary local head Emil Brill, Anneliese Wark, Kunibert Holzer, and Thomas Leinenbach, who have been particularly committed to preserving the farmhouse in Habach.
Back in its former glory, the Habach farmhouse now offers an extraordinary exhibition space once again. As part of the exhibition "My Play with Colors," Inge Huwer presents her abstract works in wonderful contrast to the historic walls. The graduate of the European Art Academy in Trier works on canvas and metal plates with acrylic paints and fillers, into which she mixes pigment and metal powders. The paintings, filled with texture, color, and glossy effects, are partly complemented by ink, but also by materials such as driftwood, bitumen, and tissue paper.
Inge Huwer donates the proceeds from the sale of her paintings entirely to the campaign "Big Heart for Sick Children," which supports seriously ill and disabled children in the Saarland.
