In December 2021, the municipality applied to the Federal Ministry of Construction for the funding program "National Urban Development Projects 2022" and can now look forward to the promised funding amounting to 1.8 million euros
.
The mayor of the municipality, Anne Yliniva-Hoffmann, describes the transmission hall as an “architectural jewel,” which was also recognized in September 2021 as a “landmark of engineering in Germany.”
“The funding, covering 90% of the project costs, makes many things possible, but above all, it gives us the opportunity to preserve and bring life to the transmission hall ‘Europe 1’ for future generations,” said the
mayor.
With funding from the federal government, the broadcasting hall in Berus can be developed into a German-French center for culture, media, and expertise in the heart of Europe.
"Such funding instruments are enormously important for the municipality, as such high costs can hardly be borne alone. All the more, we are naturally pleased that the decision of the BMWSW (Federal Ministry for Housing, Urban Development and Building) was made in favor of our broadcast hall on the recommendation of an independent jury," says Anne Yliniva-Hoffmann.
