The health department of the regional association reports 606 new Corona cases today (as of July 7, 4 p.m.). The number of newly reported cases per 100,000 inhabitants in the past seven days thus rises to 907.5 according to internal calculations.
Of the 606 new coronavirus cases, around 35 percent affect the group of 40 to 60-year-olds. The proportion of the group over 60 years old is just under 20 percent. With around 12 percent, the share of those under 20 remains the smallest.
7-day total of new infections by cities and municipalitiesIn the past seven days, 2,972 people in the regional association have been infected with the coronavirus. Of these, 1,526 live in Saarbrücken, 402 in Völklingen, 207 in Püttlingen, 137 each in Sulzbach and Kleinblittersdorf, 120 in Quierschied, 118 in Heusweiler, 116 each in Riegelsberg and Großrosseln, and 93 in Friedrichsthal.
Corona case numbers since the beginning of the pandemic
In total, there are 113,699 confirmed cases in the regional association, which have tested positive since the beginning of the pandemic. Of these, 61,851 are from the state capital and 51,848 from the nine cities and municipalities in the surrounding area. The number of deaths related to the coronavirus stands at 759.
