After Christian Jung participated for two days in the Municipal Congress of the German Association of Cities and Municipalities in Berlin, he traveled to Oranienburg, located north of the city. There, he was warmly welcomed by Mayor Alexander Laesicke at the castle, which partially also serves as the town hall.
It was a particular pleasure that Hansi Laesicke, Alexander's father and his predecessor in office as mayor, also joined this meeting.
During a walk of about an hour, both showed the guest from Saarland some interesting parts of their beautiful city. Oranienburg has experienced a rapid population growth in recent years due to the development of Berlin.
Jens Pamperin, who is not only the chairman of the local council in the district of Friedrichsthal but also the deputy city fire chief, joined during the lunch break.
More than 30 years ago, the city of Friedrichsthal had signed a partnership agreement with this district. Unfortunately, this relationship has been neglected in recent years. At the informal meeting with other local officials and old acquaintances from the time the partnership was established, there was agreement that regular contact should be resumed.
The meeting was characterized by great human closeness and mutual friendly understanding. As far as Christian Jung is concerned, he regards this relationship as extremely important and will do everything possible to ensure that a return visit to Saarland can be organized next year.
