On Monday, July 11th, the first open meeting of the new fathers' network in the Saarbrücken regional association will take place at 7 p.m. in the premises of the AWO at Hohenzollernstraße 45 in Saarbrücken. The invitation is aimed primarily at young and expectant fathers. The regularly held network meetings are intended to provide the opportunity to reflect on one's own father role and to exchange ideas about it. Topics such as equality, the compatibility of family and career, as well as possible measures against the shortage of skilled workers will be the focus. The meetings are led by two fathers' representatives who were elected at the network's launch on May 22nd.
The fathers' network – the first of its kind throughout Saarland – was founded on the initiative of the Women's Office of the Regional Association and with the participation of father and organizational consultant Heiner Fischer. "After the birth of the first child, women often take on the majority of childcare and are lost to the labor market as skilled professionals. A partnership-based sharing of caregiving and gainful employment allows them the opportunity to pursue their careers and promotes equality between men and women," said Regional Association Director Peter Gillo.
