On July 4th, 2022 at 4:25 PM, a report was made from the Schwarzenbach district of Nonnweiler that a mowed meadow on Oldenburger Street had caught fire. There was a bang and the power went out. The fire brigades of the Nonnweiler fire district were en route. At the same time, a patrol car crew from the Nordsaarland Police Inspectorate also responded. The site of the fire was an approximately 250 square meter meadow area that had been mowed for hay harvesting. A witness reported that the fire was caused by birds. The birds had carried green cuttings onto a wooden power pole, where parts of it came into contact with one of the three power cables. The green cuttings then caught fire, fell onto the meadow, and ignited additional green cuttings around the power pole. The fire was brought under control and extinguished by the deployed firefighters. The responding officers from the Nordsaarland Police Inspectorate informed Energis about the incident.
