A 25-year-old man from the Merzig-Wadern district lost control of his sports car with over 400 horsepower in a curve between Thailen and Wadern. He drove for a considerable distance on the oncoming lane, but fortunately, no vehicles were coming towards him. Afterwards, he veered off the road to the right and crashed past a large spruce tree into the forest. The bushes slowed the car down, and it came to a stop at the accident site. The driver and his 22-year-old passenger were taken to a hospital as a precaution. However, no serious injuries were found on site by the attending emergency doctor. The car was a total loss. Proceedings were initiated for inappropriate speed. Additionally, it is being investigated whether a violation according to § 315d - prohibited motor vehicle racing - might also be applicable in this case. The Nordsaarland Police Station and the Weiskirchen Fire Department handled the operation.
