Mayor Dr. Ulli Meyer recently visited the board of FESTO together with Deputy Mayor Markus Schmitt. Along with Dr. Wilfried Stoll, representative of the owning family, and CEO Dr. Oliver Jung, the St. Ingbert delegation was able to discuss the prospects of the company and the Rohrbach location at the Swabian headquarters.
Ulli Meyer reported on the positive development of the St. Ingbert economic location and the successful new settlements in the city area. He also gave an outlook on the future of the city: With the CISPA Innovation Campus, SAP, Abat, and other IT companies, St. Ingbert is developing into a strong IT location and thus into the heart of IT in Saarland.
There was good news for the FESTO location in St. Ingbert: the Rohrbach site will be continuously developed in a stable manner. The Festo Cobot is to be produced at the Hassel site. It was recently presented to the public at the Hannover Messe. It is the world’s first pneumatically operated robot that supports people in production with physically demanding and monotonous tasks or independently takes over the tasks. Human-robot collaboration is a strong growth area in the coming years.
The existing production buildings in Hassel are being converted and optimized for this purpose. Production will then be gradually ramped up.
Mayor Ulli Meyer and Deputy Markus Schmitt are pleased about the new and positive news for St. Ingbert: “FESTO’s decision to produce the Festo Cobot in St. Ingbert-Hassel underscores the commitment to this location and strengthens it. Moreover, it shows how tradition and innovation can be combined at a strong economic location.”
