The music school of the state capital Saarbrücken offers free trial lessons for double bass and electric bass on Tuesday, July 12 and 19, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Children and teenagers from the age of seven as well as adults can try out without obligation to see if one of these is the right instrument for them.
The lessons are taught by the Brazilian bassist and music educator Alexandre Ari Piazza. He has been working at the music school of the state capital Saarbrücken since February. At the same time, he is studying orchestral and chamber music with a major in double bass as well as Music Education at the Hochschule für Musik Saar. In Brazil, he has already completed a teaching degree majoring in guitar. Alexandre Ari Piazza especially appreciates the diversity of the repertoire that can be interpreted with the electric bass or double bass. He is open to all music styles, so students can learn with him what they enjoy the most.
Participation in the trial lessons is free of charge. Interested individuals can schedule a 45-minute lesson by email at musikschule@saarbruecken.de. The music school provides loan instruments for the trial lessons.
The double bass, as the largest instrument in the family of string instruments, can be learned by children. There are so-called mini basses for them, which are approximately the size of a cello. After that, progressively larger basses follow.
