On Saturday, 25.06.2020, at 2:52 PM, the manager of a Brebach shopping market reported that unknown perpetrators had thrown "stink bombs" into the entrance area of the market. Both customers and staff were injured by the release of the liquid. They complained of respiratory problems and nausea. Several people had to vomit as a result. In total, 15 people were affected, and four of them had to be taken to the hospital for examination.
The investigations to determine the nature of the liquid are not yet fully completed. However, serious long-term damage to those affected is not expected based on the current state of investigations.
The operation involved a strong presence of the fire brigade, emergency medical services, and the emergency doctor for a period of 2 hours. Saarbrücker Straße also had to be closed for this duration.
The further investigations are being carried out by the Criminal Investigation Department of the Saarbrücken City Police Station.
