In the early morning of June 26, 2022, at around 4:45 a.m., a double garage caught fire on Paulsburgstraße in Quierschied. A neighbor had noticed the smell of smoke and immediately called the emergency services. When the alerted units of the Quierschied Volunteer Fire Department and the police arrived, the garage, which also contained two vehicles, was already fully ablaze. The fire department immediately began extinguishing the fire, which lasted approximately two hours.

To do this, the garage roof had to be covered. The double garage, along with the vehicles parked inside and other materials, was severely damaged by the fire. In addition, a male person injured his forearm while attempting to extinguish the fire independently before the fire brigade arrived and had to be transported to a hospital for further treatment. The property damage is estimated at a minimum of 70,000 EUR. The Paulsburgstraße was completely closed for the duration of the firefighting efforts. However, there were no traffic disruptions due to the time of day. The cause of the fire is currently unknown, and the police investigations are ongoing.

The police ask witnesses who can provide information about the fire incident to contact the Sulzbach Police Department (Tel. 06897/9330).
