On Sunday morning, June 26, 2022, at around 1:50 a.m., a 54-year-old taxi driver was driving from the music event "NIKKIS Castle" at Burg Dagstuhl in 66687 Wadern, when a 34-year-old man stepped in front of the taxi and pressured the driver to stop. When the pedestrian tried to get into the taxi, it started moving again, causing the pedestrian to get caught on the taxi door and dragged for several meters. Ultimately, the pedestrian fell, sustained minor injuries, and was later admitted to a hospital in Trier for further treatment.
Despite the accident, the taxi driver initially continues driving and returns to the scene of the accident after a few minutes. Here, a physical altercation occurs between the taxi driver and the 36-year-old brother of the injured pedestrian, during which the brother struck the taxi driver in the face.
Corresponding investigations were initiated by the officers on duty: for coercion against the 34-year-old pedestrian, for negligent bodily injury and leaving the accident scene without permission against the 54-year-old taxi driver, as well as for bodily injury against the 36-year-old brother.
