The Central Municipal Waste Disposal Service (ZKE) will renovate the sewer system in Klosterstraße in Dudweiler starting Monday, June 27.
In an initial construction phase, work will be carried out section by section from house number 15 to house number 39. The municipal utility company will renew the combined sewer pipes, the house sewer connections in the public area, as well as manhole structures and street drains.
Klosterstraße will initially be completely closed to through traffic between house numbers 24 and 39. Detours will be signposted. Residents can access their properties from both directions up to the construction site in coordination with the construction management. Access for emergency and fire department vehicles is guaranteed at all times. Pedestrians can use the sidewalk on the side of the street where construction is not taking place.
Access to the CaritasKlinikum Saarbrücken St. Josef Dudweiler remains possible during construction via Scheidter Straße and Kirchenstraße. The bus stop "Krankenhaus, Dudweiler" will be relocated to St. Ingberter Straße at the junction of Klosterstraße.
The sewer works are expected to last until the end of the year. Towards the end of the first construction phase, Klosterstraße will largely be reopened to through traffic. Only between house numbers 15 and 24 will there be a complete closure. The hospital will then be accessible via St. Ingberter Straße.
Further Construction Progress
In a final second construction phase, the ZKE is working on the footpath and stairway area between Klosterstraße and Kirchenstraße. The ZKE will provide separate updates on further construction progress. The entire construction project is expected to last until May 2023 and costs around 1.1 million euros.
