On the night from Thursday, 23.06.2022 to Friday, 24.06.2022, the police in Saarbrücken were able to make two arrests
In the first incident, around 10:40 p.m., a 45-year-old perpetrator was observed by witnesses in the Gerberstraße area attempting to steal a chained bicycle. After failing to do so, the perpetrator went to a nearby parking garage, where he smashed the rear window of a car with a fire extinguisher. The two witnesses interrupted the perpetrator during the further commission of the crime. He managed to leave the scene and went to Halbergstraße, where he again attempted to steal a bicycle.
Officers from the Saarbrücken City Police Inspectorate later managed to locate the suspect on Egon-Reinert Street and, on the order of the Saarbrücken Public Prosecutor's Office, temporarily detained him. Additionally, a blood sample was taken from the perpetrator.
In the second case, around 4:00 a.m., a 35-year-old man was encountered in Arndtstraße during another operation. Among other things, a bicycle that was reported stolen and numerous other items previously stolen were found on the person. The individual was also carrying a telescopic baton.
This offender was also provisionally arrested after presenting the facts to the Saarbrücken Public Prosecutor's Office. The stolen goods carried along were confiscated.
After the facts were presented again at the public prosecutor's office the following day, the two suspects were released from police custody. The investigations in both cases are ongoing.
