A community with clean streets and sidewalks is an important aspect of quality of life for most people. Cigarette butts and packs, masks, tissues, or other carelessly discarded trash not only present an unsightly view but also pose safety hazards, especially for pedestrians and cyclists. Additionally, cleaning the street gutters is important in view of heavy rainfall, as dirt or weed growth can prevent water from draining properly and potentially cause it to back up onto residential property.
The employees of our municipal depot provide extensive services for a clean Kleinblittersdorf. For example, the container sites are cleaned several times a week, as unfortunately waste is repeatedly placed on and next to the containers, which of course can also attract rats. In addition, the approximately 2,000 street inlets are cleaned at least twice a year. On this occasion, Mayor Rainer Lang points out that the weekly accumulated refuse must not be disposed of in the baskets of the street inlets!
The cleaning obligation for all streets, squares, sidewalks (pavements) located within the closed local area of the municipality of Kleinblittersdorf, including the parking spaces on these sidewalks, is transferred to the owners of the properties adjacent to them. This means, for example, that the residents adjacent to a connecting path (alley) located on municipal property are also responsible for its cleaning. There are currently many complaints regarding this in particular.
Owners of adjacent properties (so-called rear neighbors) are also required to carry out cleaning if municipally owned areas lie between the areas to be cleaned and the adjacent properties.
These tasks and duties are regulated in the statute on the cleaning of public streets, paths, and squares in the municipality of Kleinblittersdorf dated December 3, 2001, which can be found on our homepage on the Internet at www.kleinblittersdorf.de/rathaus/ortsrecht/ under Building – Living – Environment.
