On June 23, 2022, at around 5:48 PM, the St. Ingbert police station was informed about a very conspicuously driven vehicle (Citroen Xsara with IGB district license plate) swerving in snake-like patterns. The informant was behind the vehicle. The driver repeatedly drove into oncoming traffic, sometimes with the entire vehicle, causing other road users to brake in order to avoid collisions.
As part of search operations, the vehicle along with the 58-year-old driver was found at the Niederwürzbach train station. No signs of alcohol influence were detected on the man; however, he was no longer fit to drive due to illness.
Due to the poor overall condition of the driver, their vehicle key was taken to the police station and further driving was prohibited until the next day. The driver was handed over to the care of a relative. The driver now faces criminal proceedings for endangering road traffic.
Witnesses of the incident as well as possible victims are asked to contact the St. Ingbert Police Station at the telephone number 06894/1090.
