Mayor Daniel Kiefer recently undertook a four-day trip together with a delegation from the district of Weiten to the Lower Austrian partner community of Weiten. The purpose of the trip was not only a mere visit or to get to know each other better, but to revive the partnership between the district of Weiten and the municipality of Weiten in Austria, which was signed in 2000 and 2001. Leading the delegation were Mayor Daniel Kiefer and the deputy head of the district of Weiten, Frank Reinert. Also part of the group were two old acquaintances who have often visited Weiten since the beginning of the partnership: Nico Beining and Richard Remmel.
The guests from Saarland were welcomed by Mayor Ramona Fletzberger and Deputy Mayor Johann Schmid, along with several council members and acquaintances.
During these four days, there were not only many joint conversations, but also the opportunity to get to know and introduce the two communities. A comprehensive program, compiled by executive councilor Maximilian Strobl, included visits to festivals and museums, and the community area of Weiten with numerous facilities was presented to the Saarland guests.
