On 13.06.2022 (Monday), 14 students competed again in the annual district championships at the youth traffic school grounds in St. Wendel after a two-year pause due to Corona. The best results were achieved by Paul Renner from Namborn Elementary School and Anna Arweiler from St. Wendel-Oberlinxweiler Elementary School.
The students participating in the championship, who had traveled from the elementary schools of the district town of St. Wendel as well as the municipalities of Freisen, Marpingen, and Namborn, had completed bicycle training as the best of their respective classes. The children were welcomed by traffic officer POK Wolfgang Gläser and the deputy of the city of St. Wendel, Mr. Kurt Wiese, representing the mayor. Additionally, the deputy head of the traffic police, EPHK Ralf Kartes, the deputy head of the St. Wendel police station, EPHK Christian Schmidt, the head of police traffic safety advisory, PHK Patrick End, as well as PK Ralf Andler took part in the event.
On a challenging course, the young road users demonstrated their skills both in individual rides and during a ten-minute group ride. The first-place winner Paul Renner remained flawless, while the second-place Anna Arweiler made just a minor mistake.
As part of the award ceremony, certificates and small prizes provided by the Kreissparkasse St. Wendel were presented to the children. Paul and Anna will now have the opportunity to compete on July 20, 2022, at the state championship of the Saarland youth traffic schools, which will also be held in St. Wendel, against the other top performers from the state.
