In a rear-end collision at the Saarlouis motorway interchange, three people were slightly injured on June 18, 2022.
Around 12:00 PM, a Peugeot followed by a total of four other vehicles was driving on the Saarlouis motorway junction from Neunkirchen towards Luxembourg. The Peugeot driver reduced the speed of his vehicle for no apparent reason and switched back and forth between the two lanes on the motorway junction. According to eyewitness reports, the driver suddenly braked sharply. While the two vehicles immediately behind were still able to brake to a stop, the last vehicle collided with the rear of the vehicle in front due to insufficient safety distance. As a result, the vehicles were pushed into each other, causing not only property damage to the vehicles but also minor injuries to several occupants. Two vehicles were so badly damaged in the accident that they could no longer continue their journey. The Peugeot appeared to be undamaged and left the accident scene without permission. The A8 motorway in the direction of Luxembourg had to be temporarily closed for cleaning operations.
