A 51-year-old driver from Nohfelden and his 52-year-old passenger were lucky despite the misfortune when he was driving his Ford Transit on Tuesday afternoon on the B41 between St. Wendel and Namborn. The driver veered across the oncoming lane behind the Hofeld-Mauschbach junction and into the roadside ditch. Due to a subsequent strong countersteering maneuver, the driver lost full control of the vehicle. The vehicle then spun around its own axis and was thrown sideways across the three lanes there. The vehicle finally came to a rest in the roadside ditch. The driver and passenger were taken to the hospital with minor injuries considering the circumstances. Also fortunate was a driver traveling in the opposite direction, who was able to avoid the crossing vehicle in time.
