The Au railway bridge in St. Ingbert is open again. Just in time for the best excursion weather and the holiday, Deutsche Bahn has reopened the bridge. Previously, the bridge had to be renovated. Since 2018, the bridge over the Homburg-Saarbrücken railway line was closed. The first bridge crossers - today - were Mayor Ulli Meyer, local head Irene Kaiser, and local head Roland Weber. The Au railway bridge was a matter close to the hearts of all three: “We are very glad that Deutsche Bahn has renovated the bridge and that it can now be used again. We worked together for this. The citizens have been waiting for this important moment. We thank everyone who supported us.”
To ensure that the aging crossing remains usable in the coming years, the city administration is aiming for a new construction.
Deutsche Bahn will officially open the bridge in July. Citizens can already use the important connection between the Au and the former Kleber site.
