Last night, several power tools were stolen from a shed in the garden of a single-family home in Merzig-Besseringen. The 39-year-old resident present noticed the 46-year-old suspect, who is known to the authorities, leaving the property. The woman pursued the suspect, who was fleeing by bicycle, in her car and was initially able to successfully hold him a few hundred meters away from the scene. After a scuffle, during which the suspect left behind his loot and the bicycle, he managed to escape on foot. The police units deployed were ultimately able to arrest the suspect during the manhunt in a hiding place on a commercial property. During the suspect’s judicial hearing today at the Saarbrücken District Court, a detention order was issued against him. The suspect was subsequently taken to Saarbrücken Prison.
