Last week, to conclude the well-known "Art May-le," the window exhibition along Sulzbachtalstraße, an art walk took place for the first time. "During the lockdown in 2020, we had to completely forgo an in-person exhibition in the shops," recalls Werner Thome, artist and spokesperson for KIS. In 2021, the so-called Corona "emergency brake," with a focus on minimizing contacts, also made a window exhibition along Sulzbachtalstraße unfeasible. However, to still provide a cultural platform for the artists of KIS, the city's press office presented one artist with a work of their choice in the Sulzbacher Umschau as part of a mini-campaign and as a video campaign on social media.
After this extended Corona break, the Kunst-Mai-le was able to take place in person for the seventh time again. "We resumed the exhibition format effortlessly and wanted to show presence again after the forced break," said Anne Allenbach, head of the VHS and longtime supporter of the exhibition format from the city's side. "Instead of a vernissage, the idea was born to visit the business owners at the end of the exhibition series; to walk along the art route to view the artworks once more in their commercial environment, personally thank the participants, and already make plans for the coming year," said the first deputy Mary-Rose Bramer, who accompanied the artistic walk. "We are planning a kind of scavenger hunt for the coming year. There will be a hidden letter in each shop. These letter clues must be collected and assembled into a solution word, which can be entered and submitted on the competition flyers. The closing event of the shop window exhibition will also be a drawing of prizes," revealed idea initiator Werner Thome with enthusiasm in his voice.
The art walk went along: Salzbrunnen Pharmacy, Hörgeräte Herrendörfer, Optik Häuser, Sports goods Kuhn, Jeweler Häuser, Eiscafé Adria, Sanitätshaus Pauly, Muys Gift Items & Gold Purchase, Honecker Optik, Markt Pharmacy, Sparkasse Consulting Center Sulzbach, Curtains Ulrich, Reiber Electronics, Sulzbach City Library, Salzbrunnen-Carrée.
