Aggravated Robbery Theft

On 01.06.2022 at around 5:45 p.m., a shoplifting incident occurred in a sportswear/shoe store on Bahnhofstraße in Saarbrücken involving a 36-year-old male perpetrator. After the perpetrator left the store with the stolen goods, he was approached by an employee of the store and asked to stop. To escape his arrest by the employee and to retain possession of the stolen items, he threatened the employee with a knife. During police search measures, the perpetrator was ultimately apprehended near the crime scene by a security and patrol unit. Criminal proceedings were initiated against the suspect for aggravated robbery theft. After completing further criminal procedural measures and in consultation with the Saarbrücken public prosecutor's office, the suspect was released by the local police station. Since there was heavy pedestrian traffic on Bahnhofstraße at the time of the offense, it is assumed that the act was witnessed by bystanders.
