For several years, Orscholz Cloef-Touristik e.V. has been maintaining the Höckerlinienweg between Orscholz and Oberleuken on a voluntary basis. With over 200 hours of work, the club members have now weatherproofed around 1.6 km of the path with wood chips.
Mayor Daniel Kiefer and Orscholz local representative Manuel Kerber praised the voluntary commitment that benefits the welfare of the citizens of the municipality as well as tourism: "I thank Gisela Ternes and her team from Orscholz Cloef-Touristik e.V. for their continuous dedication in our community, which is once again demonstrated by an initiative like this," said the town hall chief during the on-site inspection of the newly stabilized Höckerlinienweg last week.
The voluntary work was supported by the company TERRAG as a sponsor of 36 cubic meters of wood chips. Managing Director Frank Becker said in a brief speech: "We are always pleased to be able to directly support projects on site. In actions like this, you can see immediately what our support achieves, which I find very nice."
Daniel Kiefer, Manuel Kerber, as well as the members of Orscholz Cloef Tourism, thanked the company TERRAG for their support, and especially the former Orscholz local chief Hermann Kiefer, who as the initiator had already proposed and set in motion the revival of the Höckerlinienweg since 2016.
And more activities are planned along the Höckerlinienweg: Currently, preparations are underway for a joint project by the Gemeinschaftsschule Orscholz in cooperation with Orscholz Cloef-Touristik. The trail will be developed into a "historical classroom," where history can be experienced hands-on.
