The Corona regulation was substantively adjusted today in the Council of Ministers and extended by two weeks. The regulation comes into effect on June 5, 2022, and expires on June 18, 2022.
Health Minister Dr. Magnus Jung emphasizes: "The current phase of the pandemic allows us further easing of restrictions, including in the area of care. It is important that we take advantage of the situation and do not miss possible relaxations – especially with a view to autumn and a potential new wave that could require renewed restrictions. With the removal of the FFP2 mask mandate in nursing and care homes, we are also taking another step towards normality for our care workers in Saarland. With the summer months and high temperatures in mind, this change can reduce the already high workload. Furthermore, easing of visitation regulations in medical facilities such as hospitals is currently being discussed."
Change of the Corona Regulation
Visitors and employees in retirement and care facilities, special residential forms of integration assistance, and day and night care facilities must wear a medical mask. For employees, the mask requirement does not apply outside of direct care of residents. It is essential that contact takes place while maintaining appropriate distances and during indirect care.
For residents living in inpatient elderly and nursing care facilities and special residential forms of integration assistance, or guests in day and night care facilities, wearing a medical face mask (surgical mask) is recommended.
„Fewer legal requirements always mean more personal responsibility for each individual. Dear Saarlanders: Please continue to protect those around you. Refrain from visiting medical and nursing facilities if you, for example, show symptoms of a cold. The implementation of general hygiene recommendations such as regular hand washing and testing, as well as wearing protective masks, remains of central importance in combating the coronavirus,“ Jung concludes with an appeal.
