On May 28, 2022, around 4:30 PM, a fire broke out on a large meadow area near Gersheim Rubenheim during agricultural work, involving a hay bale press. The bale press burned down completely. A tractor used as a towing vehicle was also slightly damaged. Fortunately, no persons were harmed. The fire departments of Gersheim and the surrounding villages were deployed with a total of 32 personnel. The cause of the fire in the engine compartment was likely a technical defect. The total damage is estimated to be around 50,000 euros.
