On the morning of May 24, 2022, at around 9:15 a.m., smoke was detected in the Primshalle in Schmelz, the cause of which was initially unclear. The children (approximately 100) present in the hall at that time had to be evacuated as a precaution. Fortunately, no one was injured. After an extensive search of the building complex using a thermal imaging camera, the cause of the smoke was found by the Schmelz fire department after about two hours: a burnt-through cable of a wall light.
