On Sunday morning, May 22, 2022, at around 10:50 a.m., an accident occurred between two cyclists on the Saarleinpfad in Saarbrücken near the Güdingen lock. One of the cyclists, an 81-year-old man from Riegelsberg, veered off the roadway in such a way that he fell down an embankment and into the Saar River. The accident perpetrator fled on his bicycle, unknown, heading towards the Saarbrücken East Bypass, leaving the fallen senior in the Saar behind. He was rescued from the Saar along with his bicycle by attentive passersby and was transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital. Fortunately, according to current information, he was only slightly injured in the accident. The accident perpetrator is described as follows:
