The second traffic accident occurred in the early morning hours of May 22, 2022. At around 5:10 a.m., the 24-year-old driver of a car was driving on the Wilhelm-Heinrich Bridge coming from Alt-Saarbrücken towards the city center of Saarbrücken. Presumably due to excessive speed and a blood alcohol level of over 2 per mille, she collided with several high curbs, a traffic light system, and a street lamp, coming to a stop in the oncoming traffic lane of the Wilhelm-Heinrich Bridge. The passenger of the accident driver was slightly injured as a result; fortunately, no other road users were harmed. Significant property damage occurred to the curbs, the traffic light system, the street lamp, and the driver’s car. Witnesses of the accident are also asked to contact the Saarbrücken City Police Station at 0681/9321-233.
