The first traffic accident occurred on the evening of May 21, 2022. Around 6 p.m., a head-on collision between two cars took place on the B 51 between Saarbrücken and Kleinblittersdorf near the Bübingen industrial area. The 19-year-old female driver of one car, for reasons still unknown, crossed into the oncoming lane and collided head-on with a 28-year-old male driver and passenger of the other vehicle. The female driver and the male driver were only slightly injured, while the passenger was seriously injured. All three accident participants were taken to nearby hospitals. The B 51 had to be completely closed for 1.5 hours during the accident investigation. In addition to the police, two ambulances and the Bübingen volunteer fire brigade were on site. Witnesses to the accident are asked to contact the Saarbrücken City Police Station at 0681/9321-233.

The second traffic accident occurred in the early morning hours of May 22, 2022. At around 5:10 a.m., the 24-year-old driver of a car was driving on the Wilhelm-Heinrich Bridge coming from Alt-Saarbrücken towards the city center of Saarbrücken. Presumably due to excessive speed and a blood alcohol level of over 2 per mille, she collided with several high curbs, a traffic light system, and a street lamp, coming to a stop in the oncoming traffic lane of the Wilhelm-Heinrich Bridge. The passenger of the accident driver was slightly injured as a result; fortunately, no other road users were harmed. Significant property damage occurred to the curbs, the traffic light system, the street lamp, and the driver’s car. Witnesses of the accident are also asked to contact the Saarbrücken City Police Station at 0681/9321-233.
