On Saturday, May 21, 2022, several acts of vandalism were reported to the Merzig Police Station, and the police are asking for witnesses to come forward:
At a shopping market in Brotdorf, a lowered barrier system towards Pützwiesenstraße was damaged during the night from Friday to Saturday. The barrier arm was bent and the mounting was damaged due to considerable force. The damage pattern suggests that a vehicle may have collided with the barrier and caused the damage.
Also during the night from Friday to Saturday, between 10:00 PM and 7:00 AM, two hunting stands were knocked over and severely damaged in the hunting district of Perl-Oberleuken. One hunting stand each was damaged outside the town limits in the direction of Kesslingen and in the direction of Borg.
On Saturday afternoon around 4:30 PM, several guideposts along the L 156 between the localities of Honzrath and Erbringen were knocked over and damaged. Several teenagers were seen by witnesses who might be connected to the tampering with these safety devices.
In all cases, the Merzig Police Department requests witness information that may help clarify the incidents.
