On Friday, at around 5:36 PM, a serious traffic accident occurred on the A 623 near the Dudweiler exit in the direction of Friedrichsthal involving a motorcycle and a car.
The 20-year-old driver from Saarbrücken was traveling on the A 623 towards Friedrichsthal in her car. When she wanted to change lanes to the left onto the overtaking lane near the Dudweiler exit, she overlooked the 60-year-old motorcyclist from St. Ingbert who was there. He began to swerve, initially collided with the central guardrail, and finally fell in the middle of the road. During this, there was another contact with the driver's car.
The motorcyclist suffered fatal injuries. The car driver was slightly injured.
The A 623 had to be completely closed until approximately 10:00 PM due to the accident investigation. Traffic was diverted at the AS Herrensohr exit. After the initial immediate measures by the police, the drivers stuck in the traffic jam between these points were redirected off the A 623 via the AS Herrensohr exit.
