After a long Corona break, the moment had finally arrived: The 17th Herweck House Fair took place on the company’s premises in Rohrbach. The managing directors Jörg Herweck, Dieter Philippi, and Hans-Jürgen Witfeld welcomed around 90 exhibitors and 1,200 visitors. “It was high time for our suppliers and customers to meet again in person. This is where personal contacts are made, the latest technologies are exchanged, and new ideas are gathered,” said Jörg Herweck with pleasure. In addition to the official exhibition during the day, the company invited its partners to a big party in the evening at the E-Werk in Saarbrücken. “What is important to us is not only the technical discussions but also the very personal and relaxed contact between our partners and with us,” emphasized Dominik Walter, head of the purchasing and IT product management department.
Herweck AG was founded in 1985 as an import company for IT technology and has become one of the largest wholesalers in the IT sector with about 260 employees and around 12,000 customers, dealers, and partners. From conference systems, cameras, and coffee machines to surveillance systems, network technology, smartphones, computers, accessories, and telecommunications contracts, Herweck AG supplies all major and minor providers – including the largest telecommunications companies – institutions, shops, and businesses with technology. “Our customers appreciate us because we serve them quickly and personally. The trade press named us Distributor of the Year 21/22, and we have also been honored with awards from other sectors. This is a very good confirmation for us,” says Dieter Philippi. “The heart of our company is our warehouse. Had this failed during the Covid pandemic, it would have brought our entire business to a standstill,” he continues with relief. On 6,000 square meters with 35,000 storage spaces, both proprietary and some third-party articles find room. Thanks to the state-of-the-art automatic storage system, about 2,000 packages leave the site daily, but the capacity could still be doubled, as warehouse manager Philippe Geyer reports. Many packages are shipped to dealers, but drop-shipping directly to the end customer is also an important and growing offering of the company, Geyer emphasizes. Scalable capacity is an important aspect for Herweck AG, as the company has been growing steadily since its founding. “In order to serve our customers with goods, we of course need sufficient storage space. But our workforce is also growing continuously,” explains Dominik Walter. A look at the wholesale company’s job offers is therefore worthwhile.
Mayor Dr. Ulli Meyer is allowed to take a look into the warehouse on the occasion of the fair and is impressed: "The work here is truly optimal. Only in this way can a company remain competitive." The company Herweck is a beacon for St. Ingbert, an important economic factor that creates numerous jobs, he adds. Mayor and Councillor for Children and Education Nadine Backes expresses special thanks to the managing directors and employees of Herweck AG for quickly and easily equipping the schools in St. Ingbert during the Corona period. "Herweck has ensured that we are at the forefront when it comes to digitalization in the St. Ingbert schools. The cooperation is excellent," she emphasizes during a tour of a digital classroom of the future presented at the fair. Markus Schmitt, Councillor for Sustainable Urban Development, also had important new technologies shown to him during a fair tour. He was particularly interested in a system for heated, solar-powered outdoor furniture. "The fair is great, the turnout is huge. Herweck AG thus shows not only that good corporate management leads to success but also that the topic of sustainability is taking up more and more space in the IT sector."
