On the morning of May 17th, an 18-year-old young man went to the parking lot of a large supermarket in St. Wendel and pretended to be a deaf-mute fundraiser. A passerby wanted to donate an amount for the good cause but demanded a certain amount back when handing over a higher denomination bill. At this point, the young man wanted to leave the location but was subsequently held by other passersby until the police arrived. Further investigations revealed that the detainee was responsible for at least one more theft on the same day. The stolen goods were secured. The suspect now faces several criminal proceedings.
