Across the country, over 700,000 daycare professionals and childminders ensure every day that children receive the best possible support and that their parents can better balance work and family. On May 9, Mayor Markus Fuchs visited the municipal daycare centers as part of the nationwide Childcare Day and presented flowers to the childminders as a token of thanks for their work.
On this occasion, he pointed out the special importance of the profession for children, parents, and our entire society: “Childcare workers are true multi-talents: they are trusted confidants, playmates, comforters, and role models all at once. Through their work, they make an important contribution to the carefree upbringing of our children – a heartfelt thank you for this!” With the presentation of flowers in Stennweiler and Landsweiler-Reden, Mayor Markus Fuchs participated in the day of action, during which educators and childminders nationwide received recognition for their work: in many places, children brought self-painted pictures to the daycare, or parents gave small gifts to the day mothers and fathers. The Day of Childcare is intended to help give out-of-family childcare in Germany the importance it deserves. The day of action was established in 2012 and has taken place annually since then on the Monday following Mother’s Day. Since 2017, the Day of Childcare has been coordinated by the German Children and Youth Foundation. More information can be found at www.tag-der-kinderbetreuung.de
