On 06.05.2022, at around 09:50 a.m., a fatal traffic accident occurred on the B 269 (new) between Ensdorf and Überherrn. A 41-year-old driver of a BMW died at the scene as a result of the accident. According to current investigations, the BMW driver, who fatally crashed, veered off the road to the left for unknown reasons about 200 meters before the Lisdorfer Berg exit on an ascending, two-lane roadway in the area of a long left-hand curve and collided almost head-on with an oncoming 19-ton truck. The BMW driver was trapped in his vehicle and had to be rescued by the fire department. Only his death could be confirmed. Also involved in the accident was a gray Audi A 3 traveling in the direction of Überherrn, as well as a semi-trailer truck. The exact sequence of the accident is currently unknown. The public prosecutor's office has commissioned an expert to clarify the cause of the accident. In addition to the BMW driver who was fatally injured, two other accident participants were slightly injured. Significant material damage was caused to the involved vehicles as well as to the guardrail. During the accident investigation and subsequent vehicle recovery, the B 269 (new) had to be completely closed for several hours, which led to increased traffic on alternate routes.
