On May 4th, 2022, between 3:00 PM and 4:00 PM, a field fire occurred next to country road 105 between Gersheim and Reinheim. Based on the evidence found, it is assumed that an as-yet unknown perpetrator attempted to deliberately set fire to the agriculturally used area. On an area of 6m x 3m, there were likely multiple attempts to ignite the meadow in several spots. This caused several smoldering nests. Not least due to the weather conditions, the area did not catch fire completely. The police have initiated an investigation and filed a criminal complaint for deliberately causing a fire hazard.
