Twice on Saturday, April 23, 2022, the Saarlouis police and the Überherrn South volunteer fire department were alerted to fires in Überherrn. Around 2:30 p.m., according to initial findings, a technical defect occurred on a garage door opener on "Im Langfeld" street. It caught fire and caused property damage in the residents' garage. However, the family noticed the fire in time, allowing the fire department to prevent it from spreading to the residential building. At around 5:40 p.m., the second alarm was received. While working in the garden with a Bunsen burner on Großhufstraße, a thuja hedge caught fire. Although the fire spread to a neighboring property, a larger blaze was prevented. Property damage amounted to approximately 10,000 euros, and no one was injured. The police are now dispatching specially trained experts for fire cause investigation and have launched an inquiry.
