On Wednesday, April 20, 2022, at around 2:38 p.m., an employee of the local police authority of the municipality of Losheim am See informed the police station Nordsaarland by phone that he had just found an injured, crying woman behind the town hall. The woman was in shock and had injuries to her head area. The victim stated that she had been attacked and robbed by two adolescent perpetrators. They had snatched her wallet, and the perpetrators fled in the direction of the train station, Saarlouiser Straße. The crime had just taken place. The employee of the local police authority immediately contacted the Nordsaarland police station by phone while starting the pursuit. Shortly afterwards, he reported that he had been able to catch and hold one of the fleeing youths. The second suspect was still on the run. Units from Wadern and St. Wendel took over the 16-year-old suspect in custody, the crime scene work, and the search for the second suspect. Through criminal investigations by the Merzig criminal service, the identity of the second fleeing perpetrator was clarified; he is 17 years old and therefore also a juvenile. The 35-year-old victim was treated on an outpatient basis at Merzig hospital and sustained minor injuries during the crime.
