Thanks to attentive witness reports, a 46-year-old man was identified by the police in Nalbach on early Easter Sunday evening (April 17, 2022) as part of swiftly initiated search measures. He now faces criminal proceedings on suspicion of fraud.
The 46-year-old from Saarlouis was previously active between 5:45 PM and 6:10 PM on Nalbacher Moselstraße and had presented himself to residents as an alleged fundraiser for the German Red Cross (DRK) to collect donations for war victims in Ukraine. In doing so, he is said to have carried a supposed DRK membership card and an unsealed donation box.
The Saarlouis police station is now possibly looking for additional victims who were approached by the 46-year-old and handed over donations to him. These persons are requested to contact them by phone at 06831 / 9010 or by email at pi-saarlouis@polizei.slpol.de.
