City of Völklingen – Press Release No. 148/2026 Citizen Workshop on Heavy Rain and Flood Prevention in Lauterbach Following the already conducted citizen workshops in the municipal districts of Völklingen and Ludweiler, the City of Völklingen continues the dialogue on heavy rain and flood prevention. The date for the workshop in the Lauterbach municipal district has now been set.
The City of Völklingen, together with the commissioned engineering firm WeberIngenieure GmbH and local head Erik Roskothen, invites you:
Thursday, October 1, at 6:30 p.m., Lauterbachhalle (Fröbelstraße).
During the event, the previous findings on heavy rain and flood hazards will be presented and explained. At the same time, there will be an opportunity to share personal experiences from past events and provide information on local specifics. The goal is to jointly develop suitable measures for prevention and risk reduction.
The City of Völklingen attaches great importance to the input and local knowledge of its citizens. These significantly contribute to better assessing hazard situations and developing tailored solutions.
A so-called "self-prevention workshop" is planned for the end of the year, where citizens can learn how to take precautions themselves, before the measures proposals developed by the engineering firm WeberIngenieure GmbH are to be discussed on-site in further workshops in the 1st quarter of 2027.
