Prevention of Sexualized Violence in Schools: Saarland Supports Exhibitions "ECHT KLASSE!" and "ECHT KRASS!" with 20,000 Euros

The Saarland continues its support for prevention work in Saarland schools.

With a grant of 20,000 euros, the Ministry of Education and Culture is also promoting in 2026 the free loan of the interactive prevention exhibitions “ECHT KLASSE!” and “ECHT KRASS!” to a total of 16 Saarland schools. The exhibitions are carried out by the specialist advisory center “NELE” of the Child Protection Association local chapter Saarbrücken e. V. and complemented by a comprehensive educational accompanying program.

Minister of Education Christine Streichert-Clivot: “Children and young people have a right to grow up protected and to perceive and defend their boundaries independently. Prevention means strengthening young people early, imparting knowledge to them, and encouraging them to seek help. The exhibitions ‘ECHT KLASSE!’ and ‘ECHT KRASS!’ make an important contribution to this. They support schools in addressing this sensitive topic in an age-appropriate, practical, and sustainable manner. In doing so, we not only strengthen children and young people but also teachers and parents in their confidence to act.”

The specialist advisory center “NELE” has been successfully conducting the two prevention exhibitions at Saarland schools for many years. The interactive offerings support schools in integrating the topic of prevention of sexualized violence in an age-appropriate and action-oriented way into lessons. The exhibitions are complemented by training courses for teachers and educational professionals, informational events for parents, as well as extensive teaching and accompanying materials.

The experiences of recent years show the high demand and great acceptance of the offering. In 2025, “ECHT KLASSE!” was presented at nine and “ECHT KRASS!” at seven Saarland schools. Around 3,300 students participated in the exhibitions. In addition, 145 teachers and educational professionals were trained and 438 parents were reached through informational events.

The exhibition “ECHT KLASSE!” is aimed at students in grades 2 to 4. At six interactive stations, children engage with topics such as bodily boundaries, feelings, secrets, touches, and their right to help. The goal is to strengthen the children’s self-confidence and support their ability to recognize boundary violations and seek help.

The exhibition “ECHT KRASS!” is aimed at young people from grade 8 onwards. It raises awareness of sexual boundary violations among adolescents, informs about rights and support options, and strengthens the social skills of participants. Topics such as peer pressure, communication in relationships, pornography, and legal foundations are addressed in an age-appropriate manner.

Background

“NELE” is a contact and counseling center for girls and young women who experience sexualized violence. It offers partial support and assistance in dealing with the experience and ending the sexualized violence. The girls’ reference persons also receive support. In addition to counseling, training courses are offered for professionals from the psychosocial field.
