Press Release_Construction measures during the summer holidays: Saarlouis district invests around 2.3 million euros in its schools_03082026
While school operations are still paused, the construction work is entering the final phase: During the summer holidays, the Saarlouis district is upgrading almost all of its school locations as well as the auditorium in Lebach, the cafeteria in Dillingen, and the district sports hall in Saarlouis. Within the holiday period alone, a total volume of around 2.3 million euros is distributed across various construction projects.

Overall, investments during the holiday period at these two locations amount to around 290,000 euros. The renovation of the science rooms at the Max Planck Gymnasium, with planned costs of about 250,000 euros, represents the largest single item of the construction phase. The new building of the Anne Frank School, special education school for learning, at the “In den Fliesen” location is also progressing: here, structural work worth around 90,000 euros is being carried out.
Construction is also actively ongoing in the other municipalities: at the Sophie Scholl Community School Dillingen, a modernized teaching kitchen is being built, and the gymnasium of the Lothar Kahn School in Rehlingen is getting a new ceiling heating system. Progress is also being made at the GemS Nalbach, School at Litermont, with the new building of the voluntary all-day care. The district is investing more than 500,000 euros in these three construction projects alone during the holiday period. Since these are long-term projects, the construction work will not be limited to the summer holidays—however, particularly noise-intensive phases have been planned for the school-free period.
Urgent renovation, fire protection, and refurbishment work at all locations is designed to be completed before the start of school to enable students a successful start to the new school year.
