On Thursday (30.07.2026), the Federal Police Inspectorate Saarbrücken executed two arrest warrants. A 32-year-old man must serve a total of 80 days in a correctional facility (JVA). A 29-year-old woman will also have to spend 30 days in a JVA.
On Thursday around 3:50 p.m., the Federal Police checked a 32-year-old Gambian at the border crossing on Federal Motorway 8, Moseltal, state border to Luxembourg, as part of the temporarily introduced internal border controls.
During the identity check, it turned out that there were two arrest warrants against the man. One warrant was issued because of an unpaid fine of 500 euros. Since he did not pay, a coercive detention of 20 days was ordered. The second warrant was due to a negligent offense under the Compulsory Insurance Act based on a fine of 4,800 euros. In case of non-payment, a substitute custodial sentence of 60 days was imposed.
Since the 32-year-old could not pay either the fine or the penalty, both arrest warrants were enforced. Afterwards, the Federal Police officers took the man to a correctional facility to serve the substitute custodial sentences.
At around 5:30 p.m., a 29-year-old French national was subjected to a border police check in Saarbrücken. During the check in the police search system, it was revealed that there was a current arrest warrant against the French woman for driving without a license. Since she did not pay the fine of 1,800 euros—and was also unable to pay at the time of the check—she was taken by officers to a JVA to serve a substitute custodial sentence of 30 days.
