Graffiti action at the youth center
Visitors of the youth center Saarlouis created graffiti on canvases that will in future decorate the activity room of the Esther-Bejarano-Haus Saarlouis.
"From a previous activity, we still had paint and canvases left, so the idea arose to offer a graffiti activity at the youth center," said Lena Geyer, professional staff of the municipal youth welfare of the European city Saarlouis. Interested young people quickly gathered to participate in the activity. With much enthusiasm and spray cans, they brought their creative ideas onto the canvas. Paul Chatzis from juz-united supported the activity with his experience and gave tips on how to achieve an even color gradient or precise lines. Abstract patterns as well as concrete motifs, such as a card game or billiard balls, emerged. The participants demonstrated skill and creativity in the process. Also involved were the federal volunteer Chantal Fachinger and the freelance staff Selina Jager and Peter Altmayer. The artworks can now be seen in the activity room of the Esther-Bejarano-Haus.
The youth center at Holtzendorffer Str. 2 in Saarlouis is a popular place for young people between 14 and 27 years old. Here they can meet friends, listen to music, play table tennis and billiards. In case of questions or problems in everyday life, family or training, social workers are available to provide professional advice. The youth center is open Monday to Friday from 6 to 9 pm, during holidays on Tuesdays and Fridays from 6 to 9 pm.
