Defending freedom against Islamism!
The FDP Saar shares Wolfgang Kubicki's view: "…The Islamist threat in Germany has been systematically underestimated for far too long. That the attacker was known as a threat (…) seems to me like sheer mockery. Unfortunately, there will be a lot to address again. However, the crucial thing is that consequences are finally drawn. (…) The appeasement towards Islamism (…) must finally end."
In Saarland too, it applies that we defend the lifestyle of the people – stereotypically exaggerated from rural conservative to queer metropolitan – here and now! With all the means of the rule of law. Anyone who attacks people because they live freely, love freely, or celebrate freely, whether at a marksmen’s festival or CSD, attacks the core of our open society. The perpetrators’ goal is above all fear. The Islamists want to return to the Middle Ages and want us to restrict our freedom out of fear. That must not happen!
For the FDP Saar, it applies: Whoever attacks our freedom must feel the full consequences of the rule of law. Known threats must not slip through the cracks. All legally permissible means for the identification, observation, and surveillance of extremist threats must be fully exploited. Suspicious mosques must finally be closed and bans on associations consistently enforced.
What about consistent information exchange between authorities and cooperation among security, justice, and immigration authorities? Those who oppose our liberal-democratic basic order or want to fight it with violence must not slip through bureaucracy.
The protection of freedom begins where people grow into our society. Integration means more than language and work. It means recognizing our liberal values, gender equality, the rights of sexual minorities, and the state's monopoly on violence. A state that does not promote genuine integration pays a bloody tuition fee. As early as 2024, the Saarland Office for the Protection of the Constitution noted: "…especially young people, who make up an ever-growing part of the supporters and followers of the terrorist organization IS (…). Crucial (…) is the jihadist online propaganda of IS, which worldwide calls for attacks using the simplest means (…)."
Here, federal states and municipalities are also called upon, including the Saarbrücken Regional Association. They are responsible for schools, youth welfare, social work, and integration offers. It is often decided there early on whether radicalization is recognized, prevented, and combated. On this, the state chairwoman of the FDP Saar, Angelika Hießerich-Peter, said: "Prevention is not a minor issue of social and education policy but a central component of our internal security. This must be clear to all of us, including a socially romantic Minister of Education!"
Freedom needs protection because freedom is everything!
