Last weekend, from 07/03 to 07/05/2026, the traditional Saarbrücken Old Town Festival took place. On all three event days, police forces were present on site as part of a special operation. From a police perspective, the event, which was attended by approximately 180,000 people, proceeded largely peacefully and without major incidents. In connection with the festival, isolated cases of bodily injury were also reported. Additionally, criminal proceedings were initiated against a festival visitor who physically attacked police officers, among other things, on suspicion of assaulting enforcement officers.
